Kyle places 2nd at Barrett Junction!
Feb 10, 2010

Kyle charged Barrett Junction for two days and raced to the finals in the 2010 California Outlaw Series.

The first day of practice was held in a pouring rain, which kept track speeds down but didn't make Barrett any less formidable. Barrett's road surface is laden with cracks bigger than wheels and holes that increase in size as riders remove more pavement with each run. Kyle kept his practice runs low key and used the day to find his lines while keeping his race set-up dry for Sunday.

Race day was looking to be more of the same clouds and rain, but just as riders were trying to avoid wearing wet leathers, breaks in the sky provided a dry track. Kyle used practice to ramp up his speeds and begin to determine which wheels would work best in traffic during the race. His practice and preparation paid off: Kyle finished first in each heat, including a semi-final pass of James Kelly and Zak Maytum right before the finish line. Hanging with two of the top riders in the world and waiting to pass for first place showed a wisdom and poise that few veteran riders possess. In the final round, Kyle was able to chase Maytum (the former IGSA juniors World Champion) to the bottom, but couldn't quite catch him as he had in the semi-finals.

We couldn't be more proud of Kyle's performance at SkunkTech. With never racing Barrett and not having much dry time to learn the hill, he completely dominated all of his heats to place 2nd to his fellow Colorado rider, Zack Maytum.

Stayed tuned for bigger things to come from a young man who wants to win every race. Way to go Kyle!
